LIBERTYVILLE — Testament, with Diamond Plate and Ion Vein, will perform Feb. 10 at 8 p.m. at Austin’s Saloon and Eatery, Fuel Room, 481 Peterson Road.
The tour kicked off Jan. 22, along with Anthrax, bringing wicked nights of thrash that should not be missed by heavy metal fans. And a neat tidbit as of the turn of the new year is Testament’s singer is also a cancer survivor, Chuck Billy has become a permanent fixture at the Albuquerque Hard Rock, making him the first Native American musician to ever be featured there.
Testament was one of the first thrash metal bands to emerge from the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1980s. Testament’s powerful sound, influence and longevity make them one of the Top 5 all-time legendary thrash metal bands, putting them in the company of Slayer, Megadeth, Metallica and Anthrax.
The quintessential modern heavy metal band, the group has had enormous influence over a whole new generation of rockers. With the new disc, “The Formation Of Damnation” Testament has served up “old school” without the old. It was recorded at Driftwood Studios in Oakland, Calif. (except for the drums which were done at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley) and mixed at Backstage Studios in Derbyshire, England.
Testament will be releasing their album, “The Dark Roots of Earth”, later this year via Nuclear Blast.
