One dead, three hurt in Kildeer crash

KILDEER — A Cary man died and three others were injured in a crash Monday afternoon at Route 12 and Quentin Road.
Thomas Wilcox, 57, of the 300 block of Candlewood Trail, was pronounced dead at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, Lake Barrington, at 3:35 p.m. from multiple trauma from a head-on accident where he was a driver, Lake County Coroner Artis Yancey said Tuesday.
Kildeer Police Chief Lou Rossi said the accident involved four vehicles, with four people injured and transported to Advocate Good Shepherd and Northwest Community Healthcare, Arlington Heights. Conditions and names of the other victims were not available.
The accident closed Route 12 to traffic between Quentin Road and West Cuba Road for over three hours. The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team is investigating the accident, along with Kildeer police Department.
Three vehicles had people trapped who needed to be extricated by Lake Zurich Fire Rescue Department personnel. Two of the four vehicles had severe damage, one vehicle had moderate damage and the fourth had minor damage.
