FOX LAKE — Authorities are looking into whether a 54-year-old Ingleside man had a medical emergency before he crashed on Route 12 and died.
Grigory Mironchuk of the 28000 block of West O’Kelly Road, Ingleside, was driving a 2002 Nissan Sentra GXE southbound on Route 12 around 2:40 p.m. Wednesday when he crossed the median and went into the northbound lanes before striking a traffic standard at Hartigan Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fox Lake Police Lt. Mark Schindler said one of the police officers witnessed the accident and responded immediately, but there was nothing he could do for the driver.
There were no signs of alcohol or drugs. The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team is working with Fox Lake police in the investigation.
Toxicology and autopsy results still have to be reviewed.
