A frozen turkey awaits the parent/child winning team in each division of the Spot Shot Turkey Shootout.

The event will take place Saturday, Nov. 17 at Cooper Middle School, 1050 W. Plum Grove Circle, Buffalo Grove.

“It used to be a free throw competition before I was at the Buffalo Grove Park District,” Recreation Specialist Bryan Adams said. “I changed it to something that I remember competing in when I was younger.”

Parent and child teams will shoot baskets from different spots around the court, with each spot having a point value.

“The parent and child alternate shots,” Adams said. “They have a minute to shoot as many shots as they can at the different spots.”

Each team gets two rounds. The competitions start at 9 a.m. for grades 1-2, 10 a.m. for grades 3-4, and 11 a.m. for grades 5-6 and 7-8. All participants receive a T-shirt. The cost is $10 per couple. Registration is required.
