Love works miracles in “The Velveteen Rabbit.” The show was a big hit for the Kirk Players last year so they are reprising it at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, Dec. 1-23, at Cuneo Mansion, 1350 N. Milwaukee Ave., Vernon Hills.

“It’s a perfect story for everybody,” Artistic Director Paddy Lynn said. “It shows that imagination is more powerful than knowledge.”

It’s the story of a velveteen rabbit who is a Christmas gift to a little boy. The toy, who longs to become real for the boy, learns from another toy, “When a child really loves you, you become real,” Lynn said. “I like that message. You create what’s real in your life. You should only look to yourself for that. Choose what you feel is real to you, cherish it and be 100 percent invested in it.”

Tickets are $7, $5 for ages 12 and younger.
