ROUND LAKE — Four is a big number for the Mugavero family.
Dave and Sarah of Round Lake share Dec. 4 as their birthday — and they were both born at 1:30 a.m. but four years apart. Their first born, Jackson, now 21 months, was born March 4.
And now the fourth and newest family member, Avery, was born on Dec. 4 at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Lake Barrington.
“Fours are wild in the family and Dec. 4 has been a day pretty special to us. For the rest of our lives, it will be a special time of the year,” Dave said.
Avery was due Christmas Day. However, Sarah had high-blood pressure and her doctors needed to induce her at 37 weeks.
The Mugaaveros got to the hospital Monday evening. Avery was born at 6 pounds and 4 ounces just after 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Both baby and mother were doing great after the delivery and were able to return home Thursday.
Sarah and Dave had planned to celebrate their joint birthday by going out on their last date before the new baby. Instead, they spent it at the hospital.
“I told Sarah that this was the best birthday gift I’ve ever gotten,” Dave said.
Nurses on duty brought a birthday cake with their names on it and sang them all “Happy Birthday”.
Dave, 36, is pursuing his master’s degree so he can be a school social worker. He is a hockey coach and director at a multi-school organization in Rolling Meadows. Sarah, 32, works for a freight forwarding company in Itasca.
She met Dave through a mutual friend. Dave proposed on their mutual birthday in 2008.
“When you get engaged, it is exciting, but when it’s your birthday, it makes it even more special,” Sarah said.
They got married three years ago and knew they wanted to start a family together right away.
Jackson was born almost two years ago.
“I didn’t want Jackson to be left out (of the triple birthday).
Now he’s the special one — he has his own day,” Sarah said.
“At first, I didn’t want (Avery) to have the same birthday as us because I wanted her to have her own day ... but once it was out of our hands, I thought it was cool to share our birthday together with my husband.”
