LAKE VILLA — Police are asking for help in locating a Lake Villa man who has been missing since Wednesday after calling a family member and saying he might harm himself.
The missing man has been identified as John Carlsen, 51, who owns a 2005 silver Honda Pilot with the Illinois disabled veteran license plate of W272700.
Carlsen’s family reported him missing late Wednesday. He had indicated to a family member by telephone that he was possibly going to harm himself and had a firearm. His cellphone was turned off, but at 6:17 a.m., Thursday he sent a text message to the same family member saying it was turned back on. Police believe he made the call from the area of routes 173 and 45 outside of Antioch.
The Lake Villa Police Department has sent out a nationwide message to all law enforcement agencies asking for assistance in locating Carlsen. If anyone sees him or the vehicle, they are asked to contact their local law enforcement agency.
Anyone with helpful information should contact Lake Villa Police at (847) 356-6106.
