Sean McGrath has finally made it from Point A (Carmel High School) to Point B (the NFL), courtesy of stops at points C, D, E, F, G, etc.
The 6-4, 247-pound tight end was called up from the Seattle Seahawks’ practice squad this week and will be on the roster when the Seahawks play San Francisco on Sunday Night Football.
Seattle coach Pete Carroll reportedly said after practice Wednesday that McGrath was promoted and tight end Evan Moore cut because McGrath can play special teams.
The coach said there’s a good chance McGrath will be on the field Sunday night. He’ll be wearing No. 84.
McGrath was a standout tight end at Carmel and he originally signed to attend Army.
That, however, didn’t work out and he wound up at Eastern Illinois University.
There, he lasted two seasons before being dismissed from the squad.
He eventually finished his college career at NCAA Division 2 Henderson State in Arkansas where he played two years.
He was not drafted, but was invited to a pro tryout by the Bears, and then was signed by the Seahawks and spent this year, up until now, on the team’s practice squad.
Besides playing tight end, McGrath also is a long-snapper.
