A woman succumbed Tuesday to injuries suffered in an accident when she was teaching her daughter how to drive and their vehicle was struck by an another vehicle coming into their lane.
The 43-year-old woman was at Advocate Condell Medical Center, Libertyville, when she died, Lake County Coroner Dr. Thomas Rudd said. Her name was not being released because authorities had not notified next of kin, namely her ex-husband, he said.
Rudd said the accident occurred Saturday at 3:20 p.m. on Route 12 and Hill Road in Richmond. An elderly man driving in the opposite direction struck the woman’s vehicle, which was being driven by her daughter.
Rudd said the woman was teaching her daughter, 15, how to drive. Richmond Police did not immediately return telephone calls.
Also in the vehicle was the woman’s son in the back seat. Both were airlifted to Condell.
The woman died at 7:10 a.m., Christmas day.
The elderly man was taken to Centegra Northern Illinois Medical Center, McHenry, as was the woman’s daughter. Their condition was unknown.
