BUFFALO GROVE — In what was apparently the first area bank robbery of the new year, a bundled-up bandit robbed a Chase Bank branch Thursday.
The robbery occurred at the Chase branch at 1160 E. Lake-Cook Road, according to the FBI. The robber is described as a white man in his 30s, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-9, with his head covered by a winter knit hat and his face covered by a scarf.
The robber did not show a weapon and no injuries were reported.
It was the first reported bank robbery of 2013 in the Chicago area. In 2012, there were at least 218 bank robberies in the area and in 2011 there were 115, according to the FBI.
Lake County had six bank robberies in 2012, down from eight in 2011.
