Death likely due to alcohol, exposure to cold

Updated: March 8, 2013 1:15AM

Officials believe a Lake Forest man died of alcohol and exposure after his body was found outside of his residence on Saturday, Lake County Coroner Dr. Thomas Rudd said Sunday.

The man was 50 or 51 years old. His name is not being released until his family has been notified.

The man resided on Washington Circle and has a long history of alcohol abuse, Rudd said. The deceased had cirrhosis of the liver, which literally dries out the liver, Rudd said.

The man had a recent history of falling down — he was admitted into a hospital on Dec. 30 after he fell and could not get up. His discharge date was not immediately clear, Rudd said.

The man was outside of his home Saturday. The man had apparently fallen and had been intoxicated, Rudd said.

“We feel it is a death due to alcohol and exposure,” Rudd said.

The man is due for autopsy Monday. His blood alcohol level was not known Sunday.
