WILMETTE — A Vernon Hills man, who police say told them he thought he was making a date for sex in return for marijuana, instead found himself starting 2013 by meeting a Wilmette Police Department detective.
Howard L. Schneider, 42, of 702 Keystone, now has a Feb. 4 date in Cook County Court in Skokie, after being given a local ordinance ticket for possessing less than 10 grams of marijuana.
The incident started when a Wilmette detective checking Craiglist.com postings, noticed an advertisement under the “Casual Encounters” heading. The ad, with a title of “New years day pillow princess420,” allegedly promised to provide marijuana — referred to in the ad as “a huge thick fat joint of kush”— to someone who could be the advertiser’s “pillow princess” and perform oral sex for the advertiser.
The detective answered the ad, using a false female name, and arranged to meet the advertiser the afternoon of Jan. 2 on the 100 block of Green Bay Road.
The next day, police said, they met Schneider, who reportedly acknowledged having marijuana in the trunk of his car.
Police allege Schneider also told them he had successfully traded drugs for sex on one previous occasion.
