Not guilty plea in pot dealer’s murder

A Waukegan man pleaded not guilty Thursday to first-degree murder charges stemming from attempting to rob a reputed marijuana dealer.
Steven Gee, 21, faces a minimum of 35 years in prison if he is convicted of first-degree murder. He pleaded not guilty to the charges. His co-defendants Armando Sanders, 19, and Anthony Brito, 20, both of Waukegan, pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder charges Tuesday.
The men are alleged to have broken into a Randy Hardy’s Waukegan apartment while he was home with his two young children. Authorities said a fight started inside Hardy’s apartment and ended with Hardy getting shot multiple times. He died at the scene of gunshot wounds to the head and torso.
All three men are in custody at Lake County Jail in lieu of $1 million bonds.
They are due for trial March 18. Gee is due back in court Feb. 6. Sanders is due back in court Feb. 4 and Brito is due back in court Feb. 14.
