Lake Villa job fair
A job fair sponsored by Lake Villa Township is scheduled from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the township’s West Campus, the old Gavin North School, 37850 N. Route 59, Lake Villa.
Job openings include professional, hourly, technical and non-technical jobs in addition to part-time and summer jobs.
It’s free for candidates and employers.

GURNEE — There were 300 people hired over the weekend at Six Flags Great America. Just 2,700 more to go, if you are interested.
“We had just over 400 people,” said Katy Enrique, communications manager for the theme park that is looking to hire 3,000 seasonal positions. Saturday was one of four hiring events that will be held by the company in the next month. “We hired just over 300 people.”
While walk-ins are accepted, prospective employees will have to fill out an online application at www.sixflags-jobs.com before they are actually interviewed. Many online job seekers get an appointment for an interview and it’s often done on the day of the job fair, but not always.
Jobs at Great America and Hurricane Harbor range from entry-level to management-level positions, including paid internships.
Hiring events are scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on select Saturdays, including Feb. 23, March 9 and March 23.
Some of the departments where jobs are available include guest relations, admissions, rides, park services, retail, food service, security, paramedics, landscaping, games, aquatics and entertainment.
Six Flags also is seeking male and female actor/singers with strong live singing capabilities for leading roles. Some of the perks include free park admission, private employee events, reward programs, scholarships, flexible scheduling and health benefits.
“There’s a whole variety of things we are looking for,” said Enrique. “We still have openings throughout the park.”
