ANTIOCH — A Chicago man was arrested with more than five pounds of marijuana after a drug-sniffing dog discovered the pot following a routine traffic stop.
Antioch police said Monday they stopped Ali Faraj, 27, of 5348 N. Ashland Ave., around 10 p.m. Friday at Main and William street and the driver seemed suspicious.
An officer called for a K-9 unit to check out the vehicle and the dog immediately made a positive hit on the vehicle, police said. Inside, officers found a large black duffle bag with marijuana inside.
Faraj was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis, unlawful possession with intent to deliver, speeding and driving an uninsured vehicle.
He was transported to Lake County Jail and is being held on $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Lake County Circuit Court on March 13 for a pre-trial hearing.
