ANTIOCH TOWNSHIP — Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday for Ashley Seay, the 17-year-old student who died in a Monday night accident.
The Lindenhurst resident was a student at Lakes Community High School in Lake Villa and also studied cosmetology at the College of Lake County, said her family.
She was a passenger in the Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Joel Wittkamp, 16, of Antioch which went off Wilmot Road and crashed into a tree in Antioch Township. Wittkamp also died.
Seay had recently started a relationship with Wittkamp, a junior at Antioch High School and a defensive back for the Sequoit football team.
A Lake County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman said Wednesday the investigation into the fatal accident continues and results from toxicology tests through the Lake County Coroner’s Office could take several weeks.
Visitation for Seay will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 Cemetery Road, Gurnee. Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be made to Lambs Farm of Libertyville in her memory.
Her family said Seay was “a generous young lady who loved her friends and family dearly, and made everyone feel special and cared for.” An an avid animal lover, she enjoyed her many cats and dogs.
She is survived by her parents, Michael and Shannon Seay; two brothers and two sisters.
