County gets a three-inch blanket of snow

Lake County received upward of three inches of snow that fell overnight Friday, adding slightly to the season’s snowfall in an unusually dry winter.
The snow, windblown in places, tapered off Friday morning, with no more snow expected until at least Tuesday or Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Most places around Lake County saw pretty much what forecasters had been predicting — two to three inches.
However, the region’s deepest snow fell in Woodstock in McHenry County, where they were digging out under a soggy blanket of five inches, a weather service meteorologist said.
Crown Point, Ind., also got hit hard, with about 4 inches.
Plows across the county were out clearing and salting streets, first focusing on main roads and then shifting to residential streets, easily keeping up with the snow.
Wind gusts of up to 30 mph resulted in wind-whipped snow with brief whiteout conditions overnight.
