FOX LAKE — Fire that gutted a downtown furniture store over the weekend remains under investigation.

The cause has yet to be determined, but damage was estimated at $80,000 at the Furniture Doctor Shop, 34 E. Grand Avenue.

Fox Lake Fire Department firefighters were called to the shop at 1 a.m. Saturday and nobody was at the store at the time.

The building has been red-tagged and cannot be occupied until repairs are made, according to a fire department spokesman.
