Round Lake Beach man indicted for drug-induced homicide

A Round Lake Beach man has been indicted for causing a drug-induced homicide.
Byron Sullivan, 21, is accused of supplying heroin to Timothy McCann, 20. Officials responded to a report of an unresponsive male Jan. 31. They found McCann at his Libertyville residence and transported him to Advocate Condell Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Sullivan was charged with drug-induced homicide, unlawful delivery of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.
McCann was a 2010 graduate of Libertyville High School, according to his Facebook page. He was friends with Sullivan on Facebook.
Sullivan was held on $1 million bond. His attorney Steven McCollum filed a motion to reduce Sullivan’s bond. Sullivan has strong ties to Lake County, McCollum wrote in his motion.
Sullivan grew up in Libertyville and Round Lake. He graduated from Libertyville High School and resides with his father in Round Lake Beach, McCollum wrote.
Sullivan’s bond was reduced to $250,000. He remains in custody at Lake County Jail.
He was on probation for a drug-related offense when he was charged with drug-induced homicide, according to McCollum and court records.
Sullivan has a long involvement with the Lake County court system. He was cited with criminal misdemeanor consumption of liquor by a minor in June 2011; retail theft in Vernon Hills in 2010; sentenced to 24 months probation and 90 days in jail for a 2010 unlawful possession of a controlled substance; received six months supervision for consumption of liquor by a minor in Libertyville in 2009; was cited three more times in Libertyville for underage drinking in 2009; was cited with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia in Mundelein in 2009; and was given six months of supervision in 2005 for obstructing in Vernon Hills, according to court records.
Sullivan is due for arraignment March 5.
