Who knew that a caramel/fudge chocolate cake would make an assisted-living facility in Zion famous?
That’s exactly what happened when Kathy Hawkins, food-service director for the Rolling Hills Place assisted-living facility in Zion, submitted her now-famous cake recipe to Taste of Home, which is a national food magazine.
The cake turned out to be a winner, and the recipe was published in the February/March issue of the magazine, along with a story and pictures of the residents enjoying the delicious dessert.
To celebrate, Rolling Hills Place held a cake-tasting party last Thursday, in which dessert literally was the main course. In addition, Hawkins, who lives in Ingleside, signed copies of the magazine that brought to the event.
Rolling Hills Place is located on 16th Street in Zion.
