More closings, cancellations due to snowfall

The snow continues to fall as schools, governmental agencies and others across Lake County canceled planned activities for Tuesday.

The late-season winter storm could bring upward of another foot of snow through tonight, according to the National Weather Service.

A press release received by Waukegan Park District Tuesday afternoon said its facilities are closed and its canceling all programs. Also canceled are the Board of Commissioners meeting scheduled for 4 p.m. and evening rehearsals for the Waukegan Concert Chorus, Bowen Park Theatre and the Highly Improvables.

In Grayslake, Deputy Village Clerk Jennifer Wells said the Village Board meeting of March 5 was canceled and Lake Villa Mayor Frank Loffredo said a planned village forum on Lake Michigan water at the Lehmann Mansion was canceled and rescheduled for March 12.

The College of Lake County has canceled all daytime and evening classes and events at all locations for Tuesday, March 5. Watch for updates at the college’s Web site at www.clcillinois.edu<http://www.clcillinois.edu

Temperatures are expected to hover just below freezing during the next several days.

Much of the snowfall could begin to melt by Thursday when the weather service predicts temperatures will climb into the 40s where they should stay for much of the weekend.
