1. ‘Year of the Serpent’
Reptile Rampage will celebrate “Year of the Serpent” March 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Lake Forest’s Recreation Center, 400 Hastings Road. Visitors can meet over 150 animals including “Bubba” the famous North American alligator at the Wildlife Discovery Center. There will be children’s activities, face painting, a Scout Patch challenge ($5 extra for the patch), a silent auction, pizza and refreshments and more. Admission is $8 and $5 for children. 2. Button show
Explore the world of buttons and discover the many things you can do with them at the button show March 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Millburn United Church, 19073 W. Grass Lake Road, Lake Villa. The Waukegan Symphony will present a Young People’s concert March 9 at 11 a.m. at Waukegan High School, 2325 Brookside Ave. The concert will be a personal musical tour of the sections of the orchestra. Tickets are $5 and children are free when accompanied by an adult. Details, (847) 360-4740.
4. Pancake breakfast
The Kiwanis Club of Zion-Benton will host its pancake breakfast fund-raiser March 9 from 7 a.m. to noon at Zion-Benton Township High School, One Z-B Way, 21st Street and Kenosha Road, Zion. Breakfast includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, with sausage, milk, orange juice and coffee. Carry-outs available. Tickets are available from any Kiwanis member or at the door. The Chamber Orchestra of Bethel University, St. Paul, Minn. will perform March 10 at 7 p.m. at Village Church of Lincolnshire, 210 N.
