Gurnee man arrested for Dairy Queen holdup

GURNEE — A local man has been arrested for the December robbery of the Dairy Queen at 4611 Old Grand Ave.

Gurnee police said Monday that Sam Jikomes, 49, of the 3800 block of Cheyenne Road, Gurnee, was charged Feb. 22 after obtaining an arrest warrant. The Dairy Queen was robbed Dec. 28 at 6:43 p.m., by a man who displayed a semi-automatic pistol and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

A Gurnee detective observed Jikomes in the driveway of 618 O’Plaine Road at 6:43 a.m. Feb. 22 and we was taken into custody without incident.

Jikomes was charged with one count of armed robbery and one count of aggravated robbery. He was remanded to Lake County Jail on $500,000 bond.
