Everybody loves a parade.

And everybody loves to eat.

That’s a million-dollar combination, and it had people smiling from ear to ear in Lake Villa on Saturday, as the community held its annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

The procession started at Palombi School at noon and went to the train station in Lake Villa.

After the parade, everyone was invited to the local VFW Hall for the annual Corned Beef and Cabbage Luncheon — the ideal meal to celebrate the occasion.

And while St. Patrick’s Day officially was Sunday, the amount of green that was visible on Saturday made it clear that everyone was in the festive spirit and intent on turning St. Patrick’s Day into St. Patrick’s Weekend.
