Gurnee parks name new recreation chief

GURNEE — The Gurnee Park District has hired Scott Crowe as the district’s new superintendent of recreation.
Crowe, raised in Gurnee, will be responsible for leading 400 employees in planning, organizing and supervising recreation programs serving all age groups and interests with a more than $5 million budget, and overseeing the Hunt Club Park Aquatic Center and Community Center operations.
“I am very excited to have Scott serve as the superintendent of recreation and am confident that he will sustain both the recreational quality our community has come to enjoy and the visionary planning that will drive Gurnee Park District to further excellence.
It is always rewarding when we are able to promote from within our organization,” said Susie Kuruvilla, executive director for the Gurnee Park District.
Crowe graduated from Warren Township High School and received his bachelor’s degree in recreation, parks and tourism administration from Western Illinois University, Macomb.
He has been employed with the district since 2005, serving most recently as the Aquatic Division manager.
