Homeless man victim of fatal hit and run

A homeless man well known in Zion was the victim of a hit-and-run accident in unincorproated Beach Park early Friday morning, May 3.
The 43-year-old man, whose name is not being released until relatives can be found, was known in the city as someone who regularly slept outside. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at 2:50 a.m., said Lake County Coroner Dr. Thomas Rudd.
He was found near the intersection of Lewis Avenue and Beach Road.
