1. Festival

Gurnee Days 2014, celebrating its 41st year with the theme “Lil Bit Country, Lil Bit Rock ‘N Roll!” will be held Aug. 9-10. There will be rides, food, beer, live bands, contests throughout the weekend. There will be art shows, including a rib-eating contest at 3:15 p.m., and fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Aug. 9. Sunday begins with a pancake breakfast at 8 a.m., car show, art show, pony rides and petting zoo, talent shows, and more. Also, Gurnee Days Parade will be at noon Sunday on Old Grand Avenue. 2. Fest

Lindenfest will be held noon to midnight, Aug. 9 and from noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 10 at Village Hall, 2301 E. Sand Lake Road, Lindenhurst. The festivities will include bingo, carnival, contests, auction, food, beer and wine, live music, and Battle of the Bands at noon Aug. 10. Winthrop Harbor Chamber of Commerce will present HarborFest from 2 to 9 p.m. Aug. 9 at Village Park, 2700 9th St. The festival will include food, crafts, games, vendors, a car show (3-7 p.m.) and more. Registration for the car show is from 2 to 4 p.m. with judging at 4:30 p.m. www.cocwh.com.

“Rally by the Lake” Car & Bike Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 10 at Lakefront Park, 71 Nippersink Blvd., Fox Lake. Free admission, free parking, and free hotdogs for attendees. 5. Fest
