Traffic stop nets heroin, cash

Working on a tip, the Waukegan Gang Intelligence Unit made a traffic stop and arrested a man for possessing heroin, cannabis and over $1,000 in cash.

Marcus Samuel, 32, of the 2400 block of 24th Place, North Chicago, was pulled over Thursday, July 25, at 6th Street and Elmwood Avenue. Police found 3.4 grams of heroin, 4.5 grams of cannabis and $1,043 inside the vehicle. He was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession with intent to deliver, unlawful possession of marijuana, and possession with intent to deliver within 1,000 feet of school or park.

Police said he made a full confession to be a heroin dealer.

He was being held in Lake County Jail on $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Lake County Circuit Court Aug. 28.

Police urge residents to continue passing along information to police by calling the 24-hour hotline at (847) 856-6444 about suspected drug houses. Any criminal activity can be reported 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Callers will not be contacted unless they specifically ask for a return call.
