Police seek suspect in shooting

Updated: September 1, 2013 6:34AM

A 21-year-old man is recovering from a gunshot wound he received Monday, July 29, in Round Lake Beach, and police said they have a number of good leads on the suspect.

Police received a call around 8:12 p.m. for shots fired in the area of Fairfield Road and Mayfield Drive and that was where they discovered the victim.

He was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center, Libertyville, for treatment.

At the scene, investigators collected evidence and took statements from witnesses who gave a description of an individual believed to be involved in the shooting.

“Significant leads are being aggressively pursued,” said Lt. Rich Chiarello. The shooting was not a random act, he added.

Police are hoping to locate more witnesses or suspects and they continue to process the evidence obtained from the scene.

Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the Round Lake Beach Police Department at (847) 546-2127 or Crime Stoppers at (847) 662-2222.
