LIBERTYVILLE — Libertyville’s Improv Playhouse will present a Chicago-based cabaret for audiences titled “Don’t Call Us, We’ll Call You” Aug. 10 at 7:30 and 9 p.m. at 735 N. Milwaukee Ave. This is a BYOB event.
Actors Rachel Page, Christie Burgess and musical director Matt Piet have teamed to present a vocal showcase production that takes a fresh and amusing look at crushed musical theater dreams, one song at a time.
Featuring works by Andrew Lippa, Rogers and Hammerstein, and Goldrich and Heisler, Christie and Rachel sing about two very different girls who never quite get their names up in lights.
Page is a freelance performer and music director in the Chicagoland area involved in the Fox Valley Repertory Theater, Music Institute of Chicago, Second City Musical Improv Conservatory and Improv Playhouse.
Burgess is a full-time staff member at IP, and after completing her degree in acting at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
She has been performing throughout the Midwest. Her primary roles have been Sharpay Evans (“High School Musical”), Christine Colgate (“Dirty Rotten Scoundrels”), Rona Peretti (“Spelling Bee”) and many other favorites.
Matt Piet, is a professional jazz pianist and graduate of the Eastman School of Music.
Tickets are $12.50 and $8.50 for students in advance and $15 and $10, respectively, at the door.
A dinner and show package has been arranged with Libertyville restaurants — Café Pyrenees, (847) 362-2233, and Trattoria Promigliano, (847) 247-2206.
