MUNDELEIN — Three men have been charged for allegedly robbing a Mundelein grocery store last month.
Two men — wearing ski masks and brandishing handguns — entered the Supermercado Vargas Grocery in the 800 block of Lake Street in Mundelein about 9:50 a.m. Aug. 9 and demanded money, which the owners handed over, police said. They then fled the store on foot.
Nobody was injured in the robbery, police said.
DNA evidence led police to the suspects and a search warrant executed in the 300 block of Willow Drive in Round Lake Park on Aug. 31 led to the discovery of evidence linking the suspects to the robbery and narcotics, police said.
Christian Romero-Nuno, 21, Jose L. Morales, 23, were each charged with one count of felony aggravated robbery, police said.
Romero-Nuno, of the 1600 block of Grove Street in Round Lake Beach, was also charged with felony aggravated assault and Morales, of the 300 block of Willow Drive in Round Lake Park, was also charged with felony aggravated assault, felony marijuana possession with intent to deliver and possession of ammunition without a Firearm Owner Identification card.

Llano, also of the 300 block of Willow Drive in Round Lake Park, was charged with felony aggravated robbery for helping to plan the robbery and felony marijuana possession with intent to deliver and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, police said.
