Authorities have released the identity of a 47-year-old woman killed in a crash Thursday evening in Long Grove.
Jeewon Kim, who lived on Shambliss Lane in Buffalo Grove, died at about 6 p.m. Sept. 5 when the blue 2011 Honda CRV she was driving was struck on the driver’s side by a red 2007 Ford F150 at the intersection of Route 83 and Westmoreland Drive.
Kim died at the scene and her daughter, Minju Park, believed to be 16, was injured and transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Lake County Coroner Dr. Thomas Rudd said that according to reports from Condell, Park was doing well Friday morning.
Rudd said an autopsy was being performed on Kim today, and that multiple trauma was the likely cause of death.
Gyeyoung Park, Kim’s husband and Minju’s father, was not in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
The male driver of the Ford F150 has not been identified but he was also transported to Condell following the crash.
Sgt. Sara Balmes of the Lake County Sheriff’s office said the investigation was continuing Friday and it was not yet clear whether charges are pending.
