A police search involving officers, a K-9 unit and Air One helicopter did not turn up any leads in their search for a 40-year-old man with mental health issues in Ingleside who told his father masked men threatened him.
Fox Lake police are looking for Eric Walleck of the 500 block of Lincoln Avenue, Ingleside, after his father, Willliam of McHenry, called Monday Oct. 7 to report that his son had told him that masked men had come to his apartment on Saturday and threatened him. He last heard from his son around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6.
William Walleck went to his son’s apartment and found the door unlocked and his vehicle still in the parking lot. He called his son several times and did not get an answer. At first, police pinged his phone and that led them to an area behind the Dorset Court area of Hawthorn Woods. Police officers from Fox Lake, Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Wauconda searched the area with a canine unit and the Air One helicopter using infrared radar, but the missing man was not located. His cellphone was eventually found in his apartment.
“Mr. Walleck reported that his son does have ‘mental problems,’” said a press release from Lt. Mark Schindler of the Fox Lake Police Department.
Eric Walleck is described as being 5 feet 8 inches tall with brown hair and eyes. He has tattoos on both shoulders and his right forearm. While he told his father about the masked men, he never made a report to the Fox Lake Police Department about the incident.
Area hospitals have been checked and there were no clues to his whereabouts in the area around his apartment. The investigation is ongoing. If you have seen Walleck or have any information about where he is, contact the nearest police department or the Fox Lake Police Department at (847) 587-3100.
