A homeless man faces felony charges after trying to snatch a woman’s purse earlier this month in Libertyville.
Travis J. Williams, 33, was charged this week with attempted robbery and aggravated battery, according to Libertyville police.
Police received a report of a man who tried to steal a woman’s purse on the 500 block of North Milwaukee Avenue about 5:45 p.m. Oct. 10.
The woman, who was carrying the purse on her shoulder, was approached from behind on a downtown sidewalk outside a business, police said at the time.
After she refused to let go of her purse, the man allegedly pushed her to the ground, police said. The victim was slightly injured.
Surveillance video from a nearby business helped identify Williams and his vehicle, police said.
Williams was already in custody at the Lake County Jail on unrelated charges. A bond hearing in the purse-snatching case is pending.
