About $60,000 worth of damage was left in the wake of a residential fire in Antioch Township on Friday morning.
The Antioch Fire Department was called shortly after 7 a.m. when a man on the 42000 block of Woodbine saw smoke coming for the home at 42400 Woodbine, Fire Chief John Nixon said. The witness spotted the fire because he lost electricity and stepped outside, Nixon added.
“There was some fire and a lot of smoke,” when firefighters arrived, Nixon said.
A 200-foot driveway required tanker trucks to pump water to the house, which may be used as a summer home. Officials have yet to get in contact with the owner of the property. No one was home at the time and there were no injuries.
The cause is believed to have sparked from an electrical box, but it is still under investigation, Nixon said.
The fire eventually made its way up to the attic. Damage to the home was estimated at $40,000 and damage to the contents was estimated at about $20,000.
