A 30-year-old former Grant High School teacher was recently arrested and charged with sexual assault of a student at her former home in Grayslake.

Amber Kraus, 30, of Mundelein was arrested last week and was being held on $100,000 bond after being charged with sexual assault of a student between the ages of 13 and 17 and aggravated criminal sexual abuse for violating a position of trust and authority, said Grayslake Police Chief Phil Perlini.

Kraus lived in Grayslake at the time of the alleged assault and recently moved to Mundelein. She resigned her position at the high school in October.

Supt. Christine Sefcik said in a press release that the police immediately were contacted and the incident appears to be just an isolated incident. The case was transferred to Grayslake police once it appeared the contact with the student occurred in that village and police jurisdiction.
