Help support United Way Lake County on Day of Giving

Updated: December 2, 2013 5:58PM

United Way of Lake County (UWLC) has joined arms with #GivingTuesday to celebrate and encourage charitable activities that support nonprofit organizations.

#GivingTuesday is a global movement to create a national day of giving to start off the annual holiday season. The second annual GivingTuesday is on Dec. 3. The goal of this movement is to inspire people to take action and give back to their local communities.

Ways the community can give to UWLC this #GivingTuesday include:

1. Give a donation in support of UWLC by texting UWLC to 85944 or donating on the website Any amount helps the mission to improve lives in Lake County.

2. You do not necessarily need to make a monetary donation to give this GivingTuesday. You can give by donating your time to being a volunteer. Take the pledge and join Roberto Garza to help cut the dropout rate in half by becoming a volunteer reader, tutor, or mentor. Visit

3. Give a gift from the UWLC holiday catalog that will help children succeed. These gifts support all of UWLC’s four key programs. By giving children a solid educational foundation focusing on preventive programs, the community grows stronger. Visit
