Updated: January 25, 2014 6:16AM

A man was killed and a woman was critically hurt in a crash Sunday evening in Mundelein.

A BMW 318ti traveling west on Route 60 hit the driver’s side of a Toyota Corolla, which was exiting the parking lot of a shopping center near Lake Street about 5:15 p.m., according to a release from Mundelein police.

Two people in the Camry were taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where the driver died, police said. He has been identified as 34-year-old Eric O’Campo of Zion.

The female passenger is in “critical but stable” condition, police said.

The driver of the BMW submitted to chemical testing, but neither driver showed signs of intoxication, police said. The roads were clear but wet at the time of the crash.

Police said no citations have been issued as of Monday morning. The Lake County Major Crash Accident Team is investigating.
