Big Hollow Middle School in Ingleside was put on lockdown Thursday after a student found a live round of ammunition in a hallway.
Lake County Sheriff’s officers responded about 9 a.m. to the school at 26051 W. Nippersink Road after the student found the .22 caliber rifle cartridge in a hallway near the eighth-grade classrooms, Sgt. Sarah Balmes said Friday in a release.
The school was placed on lockdown while deputies and a K-9 unit searched the school, including the student lockers, but no other ammunition or weapons were found. The lockdown was then lifted and the school resumed normal activity.
The incident remains under investigation.
