A missing front license plate resulted in a traffic stop by Fox Lake police that turned into an arrest of a suspected drug dealer, who was also in possession of a gun.

Daniel Castillo, 20, of the 35000 block of N. Watson Avenue, Ingleside was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis, possession with intent to deliver and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. His bond was set at $10,000, said Lt. Mark Schindler of the Fox Lake Police Department.

Police made the stop Jan. 8 on Grand Avenue near Nippersink Boulevard and the officer noted a strong smell of burnt cannabis coming from the vehicle.

Police called for a K-9 assist from McHenry City Police Department and their canine, Duke, alerted on the vehicle and a search turned up a backpack that contained 225 grams of marijuana, a Taurus .380-caliber handgun and approximately $1,500 in cash.
