GURNEE — The former treasurer of Warren Township High School’s Band Boosters has been charged with stealing nearly $27,000 from the group over three years.

Gurnee police on Wednesday concluded a four-month investigation into the reported theft of $26,975 from the organization, an investigation that started when an internal audit was sought by a new treasurer, a statement from police said.

The audit showed unauthorized withdrawals of $26,975 were made over a three-year period, and the former treasurer was suspected of making them, according to police.

On Wednesday, Lake County prosecutors issued a warrant charging Maurine E. Moore, 57, of the 3400 block of Mary Avenue in Park City with two felony counts of theft.

Moore surrendered at the Gurnee Police Department and is being held in the Lake County Jail on $15,000 bond.
