An acquaintance of a 30-year-old man who died of a heroin overdose last week has been charged with drug-induced homicide.
Winthrop Harbor police said that Brandon Schnider, 30, of the 1000 block of E. Broadway, was dropped off by his friend, Frank Jacquette, 25, of the 1400 block of West Drive, also in the village, after the pair had snorted heroin.
Police said Jacquette confessed to picking up Schnider, who lives about a mile away, and going to his source for heroin where he purchased two bags of heroin for $20 each. They both then snorted some of the heroin. Jacquette brought Schnider home in an intoxicated state and dropped him off.
Schnider lives with family members who say the saw Jacquette’s vehicle drive away. They monitored Schnider and just after 1 a.m. on Jan. 19 they found him unresponsive and called 911. He was pronounced dead at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan.
Jacquette is in Lake County jail in lieu of $250,000 bond on charges of drug-induced homicide.
