A portion of Route 83 near Grayslake will be closed Thursday morning to allow emergency repairs on a crossing.
The closure is necessary to repair nine failing concrete pads that make up the Canadian National Railroad crossing on Route 83 near Route 137, Lake County transportation officials said in a statement.
Route 83 will be closed to traffic in both directions from about 9:30 a.m. to noon.
During that time, a posted detour will reroute southbound traffic onto Route 137 to Route 45 to Peterson Road, then back onto Route 83.
Northbound traffic will be directed east on Peterson to Route 45 to Route 137, then back to Route 83.
