Two men charged in connection with residential burglaries

Two men have been charged in connection with several residential burglaries that occurred in Ingleside and Lake Villa.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office made the announcement Thursday, stating they charged the duo on Jan. 18. The two men burglarized five homes in December in Ingleside and Lake Villa, according to a release by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators were led to the suspects after they pawned stolen items throughout Lake County, according to the release.
George E. Tapia, 25, of the 1800 block of Tomahawk Drive in Round Lake Heights was charged with five counts of residential burglary, a class one felony, after he admitted to investigators that he burglarized five homes in Lake County. Daniel Ortiz, 30, of the 1200 block of Lotus Drive in Round Lake Beach was also charged.
Both had their bond set at $250,000 with additional charges pending against them. Their next court date is Feb. 5.
