The driver of a pick-up truck who died in a crash over the weekend in Antioch was identified as a Waukegan resident.
Scott Bonke, 45, of Waukegan was driving his pick-up truck just after 10 a.m. on Route 173 east of Deep Lake Road when he and a van traveling in the opposite direction collided causing the truck to roll.
Lake County Coroner’s Office Chief Deputy Orlando Portillo said Bonke died of multiple traumatic injuries.
Initial tests showed neither alcohol nor appeared be a factor in the crash, but blood test results will take 10 to 12 days.
Antioch Police Sgt. Geoff Guttschow said the accident was reported around 10:16 a.m. near Route 173 and Eagle Ridge Drive and took place between two vehicles traveling in opposite directions on Route 173.
Guttschow said the driver and one passenger in the van were transported to an area hospital for injuries that were initially reported as minor. Guttschow also said the incident was under investigation by both Antioch officials and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team.
