Updated: March 13, 2014 6:23AM

Authorities in Libertyville followed footprints in the snow to catch a burglar trying to get into unlocked vehicles, homes and garages last week.

Armando Aldana, Jr., 22, was charged with three counts of burglary, two counts of criminal trespass to motor vehicles, criminal trespass to property, criminal damage to property and resisting a peace officer, according to Libertyville police.

He was arrested after a police officer saw him get into an unlocked car about 2 a.m. Feb. 5 in a driveway in the 200 block of East Church Street, a statement from police said.

Following his tracks in the snow, police found two other victims and several areas where it appeared Aldana had approached vehicles, garages and homes to test the doors, police said.

One resident of the 300 block of First Street said someone entered his vehicle, but nothing was missing, police said. Another resident said the handle on the rear sliding door to his home was damaged.

Aldana, of the 300 block of Second Street, also resisted officers who took him into custody, police claim.

He was ordered held on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Thursday, Feb. 13, in Waukegan, according to jail and court records.
