The former Corky’s Pub and catering business had been vacant for a number of years, but Waukegan resident Jose Giles said he bought the foreclosed property last year after driving past and noticing it was for sale.

The 5,000-square-foot business will include a restaurant with full bar, and is slated to be open in about six weeks.
The new restaurant that will feature Mexican cuisine will be open all day offering breakfast, lunch and dinner. Giles plans to employ several of his family members, as well as others at the new business.
The restaurant will be called Buena Vista. “It means good see (view),” said Giles of the eatery’s moniker.
Giles said the parking lot which can hold up to 50 vehicles. He also plans to install new signage. Right now the old Corky’s Pub sign states “Closed — New Owners Soon.”
“I’m going to have two new signs put up,” said Giles. “One will be on Lewis Avenue and the other out here (on Wadsworth Road).”
He said he previously owned a Mexican restaurant in Round Lake Beach which he sold.
Giles, a citizen of the United States has been in this country for the past 28 years. He said he came to the U.S. from his hometown of Guerrero, Mexico.
The new restaurant is next to a Citgo gas station which was remodeled inside and out and opened several years ago.
