GURNEE —The full-price wing now under construction at Gurnee Mills is on target for its July grand opening, officials said.
Scheduled to open in conjunction with the grand opening of the 130,000-square-foot Macy’s during July, officials said the project will make Gurnee Mills the premier hybrid shopping mecca with outlet, value and full-price retailers all under one roof.
Most of the construction on the 100,000-square-foot retail wing, which is located on the south side of the property between Entrance E the new Macy’s location, is being performed after mall operating hours to minimize shopper interference.
“We are thrilled to get this project under way, which when completed will establish Gurnee Mills as the only shopping destination of its kind,” said Randy Ebertowski, general manager at Gurnee Mills. “Meeting shopper demand for the best of retail all under one roof, our full-price retail wing anchored by Macy’s will add another dimension to Gurnee Mills unique brand of shopping with unmatched selection and incredible value.”
Coinciding with the opening of Macy’s, the full-price wing will have streamlined store fronts, classic wood accents, new lighting, more seating areas and iconic branding.
Ebertowski said the new retail mix will include popular fashion retailers LOFT and The Buckle, as well as several other new additions to be announced soon. Gurnee Mills currently has more than 200 stores.
