Appointed: Elyssa’s Mission of Chicago has appointed Jodie Segal of Deerfield director of education. She will be working with areawide middle and high schools in order to raise awareness and provoke dialogue about depression and teenage suicide among students, staff and parents. Segal has a bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis and a master’s in social work from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Joins Vista: Dr. Timothy Stegemann has joined Vista Health System’s medical staff on a full-time basis. He is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and earned his medical degree from the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency as a member of the Navy at the Naval Hospital at Camp Pendleton near Oceanside, Calif. His wife, Dr. Anna Stegemann, already is on staff at Vista as an anesthesiologist. Also added to the Vista staff is neurologist Dr. Antao Du. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and earned his medical degree from Tongji Medical University in China and completed a residency program in radiology at Beijing Hospital. In the U.S., he completed residencies at Detroit Medical Center.
New instructor: The David Adler Music and Arts Center in Libertyville has named Sarah Culhane voice instructor. Originally from Naperville, she received her bachelor of music degree in vocal performance from Illinois Wesleyan University, Bloomington. During her studies she performed with the Illinois Wesleyan Opera Theatre, the Prairie Fire Theatre, as well as the Opera Studio at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing .
Management training: Jeanne Ang, director of primary care services at the Lake County Health Department/Community Health Center was one of this year’s 38 graduates of the UCLA/Johnson & Johnson Health Care Executive Program, an intensive 10-day program, conducted at the UCLA Anderson School of Management, designed to enhance the management and leadership skills of community-based health-care organization executives.
Nursing officer: Vista Health System recently named Rose Speights chief nursing officer. Speights oversees all nursing activities at Vista Medical Center East and Vista Medical Center West both in Waukegan, as well as at the Vista Surgery Center and Vista Freestanding Emergency Center located at Vista’s campus in Lindenhurst. Speights has more than 20 years of nursing experience and joins Vista from NorthShore University Health System in Evanston. During her 11-year career at NorthShore, where she most recently was senior director of nursing. She earned both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in nursing from Loyola University of New Orleans, as well as a master’s of science in administration from the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Ind.
