BARRINGTON — Adult learners age 55 and older can join the lifelong learning lectures at The Garlands of Barrington, 1000 Garlands, Lane off of Northwest Highway by the Barrington-area Library. “Victor Borge: Comedy with Your Danish” will be presented by media historian, Mike Delaney, Jan. 27 from 12:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center.
When highly successful Danish entertainer Victor Borge fled to the U.S. in the late 1930s to avoid the personal threat of fascism in Europe, he was penniless and had no knowledge of the English language. Delaney will show you how Victor used the humorous intricacies and contradictions of the American language and culture, combined with his formidable piano technique, to create a timeless body of humor for all generations.
